When scale (calcium, for example) starts to build up inside these water coolers, cooling system efficacy decreases, and the machines have to work harder to reach optimum performance levels, leading to an increase in power consumption.

*Just 0.1mm of scale can cause a 15% drop in heat-exchange efficiency.

In order to eliminate scale, chemical agents like scale dispersants are often used, but by using electrolysis technology instead, scale is removed more efficiently while placing less of a burden on the environment.

Electrolysis is a technology in which an electric current is applied to water or aqueous solutions to cause an electrochemical decomposition through positive electrode oxidation and negative electrode reduction. By applying electrolysis, the properties of water can be changed significantly. Based on this idea, we created our own scale-removal electrolysis technology.

What It Brings

With our electrolysis technology, the chances of new scale forming are reduced to almost zero, and scale already present in pipes can be eliminated. Not only does this technology help to prevent the formation of new scale, but as electrolyzed water is able to break up minerals well, it also does a good job of dissolving scale from tougher areas like pipes.

Three positive reductions occur from using electrolysis technology to remove scale. The first is cost reduction. In one case, a factory that used electrolysis to clean scale from their air conditioning system saw a 42.4% reduction in cost compared to that of using chemical agents.

The second reduction is in CO2 emissions. The factory mentioned above was able to reduce CO2 emissions by 340 tons. The third reduction is a reduction in cooling system inefficiency. In addition to these benefits, companies employing the use of electrolysis technology in place of chemicals help to reduce the burden on the environment, leading to a greener corporate image.

Why Competitive ?

Scale dispersants are capable of slowing down the buildup of scale, but they are unable to reduce the buildup to zero or to help with the removal of scale. With acidic chemicals, it is possible to remove all of the scale temporarily, but this type of cleaning shortens the life of the pipes while doing nothing to address inevitable future buildups.

The big advantage of using electrolysis is that following the removal of scale, the system helps to maintain an almost 100% scale-free environment thereafter. This technology can also be retrofitted to existing cooling towers.
